Hermit Thrush

I am usually awake by 530am every morning and I typically lay in bed until about 630am. Now that the clocks have been turned back an hour, the birds start waking up a little before I hit the shower. Most mornings, the Brown Thrashers are the first bird I hear, sometimes the neighborhood Barred Owls and occassionally a fussy Carolina Wren. In winter they are joined by Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Gray Catbirds and this guy pictured below. The Hermit Thrush is one of my favorite winter birds. I love everything about them. A few years ago I spent a good 30 minutes digiscoping this Hermit Thrush, which hopped around in front of me at Lake Lafayette Heritage Trail Park. Super cool encounter!
