Dusky Pigmy Rattlesnake

I spotted this little beauty on the way out of St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge this morning. It was laid out on the edge of the road, warming itself up. I’ve probably seen close to 50 individual pigmy rattlers over the years but this one was by far the biggest and most beautifully marked. It measured about 2 ft in length and was thicker than my thumb. After taking a few pictures I gently moved it off the road and into the brush.
