An Osprey’s Lunch

Who’d be a fish eh? The fish in the picture below had been swimming around Eagle Harbor on the west side of St. Joe Peninsula. Like all living creatures, the Osprey had to eat, and fish like this one are on its menu. The Osprey had to work hard for its lunch. A highly evolved sense of vision and aerial prowess was employed to detect and catch the fish. Then, specially adapted feet and talons gripped onto the slippery mullet, followed by an amazing display of strength to free itself from whence its lunch came. By slight of foot the Osprey deftly maneuvered the fish, head facing forward, for an efficient flight to its favorite perch. Finally, Lunch was taken, as were many photographs. This one is my favorite!
