Is it me or are there more butterflies in the Tallahassee area this fall? We’re seeing lots of them all over the place. Yesterday, I saw 7 species feeding on the flowers in our front garden; Zebra Longwing, Gulf Fritillary, Sleepy Orange, Cloudless Sulphur, Long-tailed Skipper, Common Buckeye and Black Swallowtail. Other species we have been seeing include Giant Swallowtail, Monarch, Viceroy, Variegated Fritillary, Eastern Comma, American Lady and Carolina Satyr. Not long before we start tagging Monarchs at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. Can’t wait!
