Mississippi Kite

A pair of kites have been hanging out in my parent’s neighborhood and I managed to capture a iPhonescope slomo video of one of them having a good ole scratch! Mississippi Kites are a common summer resident in Tallahassee. They’re typically present between April and September. This small smoky gray raptor likes to feed on dragonflies and other airborne insects. After the nesting season is over all of Tallahassee’s kites migrate south to either Bolivia, Brazil or Paraguay where they will spend the winter.
